  Lynsey Addario’s, It’s What I Do, offers a look at the highs and lows of a photojournalist’s career. One of the most compelling anecdotes in the book occurs when Addario recounts her time in Afghanistan, capturing the lives of women living under the oppressive rule of the Taliban. What stood out to me was her encounter with a young woman who, despite the extreme danger, found the courage to speak out about her struggles. This moment summarizes Addario's talent for building trust with her subjects and her ability to capture emotional stories in some of the world’s most dangerous regions. LB Roadrunners Volleyball Team VS. Wenatchee Valley - November, 16, 2024

  Brooklyn Willard, OH / OPP, gets ready for the third set of the night at LBCC South Regional tournament. LBCC host the NWAC South Regional Tournament after having a perfect 29-0 season. The Road Runners win 3-0 in dominating fashion. They are heading to Lakewood, WA for the NWAC Championship. The top 8 teams in the NWAC will battle it out for the Championship title. The tournament is hosted on Nov. 22-24 at Pierce College in a double-elimination format. Grace luttre ll  getting set for the the serve

On November 18, 2024, Michelle Balmeo holds a sign during the teacher strike at 1820 Pacific Blvd SW, Albany, OR. Teachers are advocating for fair pay, smaller class sizes, and better student resources in the district’s first strike in nearly 40 years. November 17, 2024, The original courthouse in Albany was  his courthouse remains a landmark in the city, reflecting Albany's rich history and architectural evolution destroyed by fire in 1861. A second one was built in 1865, and the current courthouse was completed in 1940. The clock, originally installed in the 1899 courthouse, now stands as a historic feature of the present building. Megan Earl, a barista at Dutch Bros in Albany, OR, has been with the team for six months. Originally from Scappoose, she loves meeting new people through her work.  November 24, 2024.  

Tyler Hicks

Tyler Hicks, a photojournalist known for his powerful images of war and conflict, grew up in a small town in Connecticut. From a young age, he was drawn to photography and telling stories through pictures. In high school, he would take photos of everyday life in his town, capturing moments that others might overlook. This early interest in photography sparked a curiosity about the world beyond his hometown, motivating him to explore stories that went far beyond what he knew. Hicks went on to study journalism at Boston University, where he learned more about how to tell stories through his photos and improved his technical skills. His time in college reinforced his passion for traveling and documenting important stories from around the world. Hicks’s career took off when he joined The New York Times as a staff photographer.   LBCC Activity Center Mineral on November 9th.    Mural artist Rip Cronk designed and painted this larger-than-life piece in September 2016. It showcases four former LBCC student-athletes: Kendrick Abraham (Baseball), Tyger Liner (Men’s Basketball), Samantha Rouleau (Volleyball), and Kyia Duvall Student Legacy Park, Oregon State University, November 10th. Photographer is unknown. Photographing the OSU lacrosse team as they defeated the Trees. He mentioned that he enjoys doing sports photography and it’s his favorite thing to do.  Oregon State University Campus in front Strand Agriculture Hall on November 10th. A bronze sculpture representing Alice Biddle, the first woman graduate of Oregon State University in 1870. Biddle holds a rolled document, which may be her diploma in her right hand. Commissioned through Oregon's Percent for Art in Public Places Program, managed by the Oregon Arts Commission.

Jake Forshey, LBCC Strength and Condition coach at LBCC.     Jake Forshey, 34, LBCC Strength and Conditioning coach.  Jake has been working at LBCC for 6 years, working with baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Before working with all LBCC athletes he spent a year with the baseball team and found his love for coaching. Forshey owns Forshey Training Systems just outside of Salem. Outside of coaching his favorite thing to do is spend time with his 2 kids.
